With us, you can experience the world of microbes up close! Discover how bacteria, fungi, archaea, microalgae and protozoa grow, glow in dark caves, move about, and how they are indispensable helpers for plants, animals and us humans.
Our first project: Get a little taster of our vision with four stations from the special exhibition ‘FUNGA’ at the South Tyrol Museum of Natural History in Bolzano, Italy. February 9, 2026 – February 7, 2027.
Our current project: On 27 May 2026, ‘mikroVERSUM’ in Zirl near Innsbruck, Austria, opened its doors. After 13 years of preparatory work, fiction became reality! Heribert Insam and Judith Ascher-Jenull, along with more than 100 scientists and students involved in the concept, are delighted with the outcome.
Opening hours: Fri, Sat and Sun from 12:00 to 18:00
Guided tours: Please register at mikroversum-fachdidaktik@uibk.ac.at.
